How To Get Your 2007/08 Membership

2007/08 memberships can be purchased at the Sahali Ticket Centre (Sahali Mall), through the mail (Kamloops Jazz, P.O. Box 20002, Stn. Sahali Mall, Kamloops, BC. V2C 6X1) and at all concerts (adult $20, student $10).  

Please make cheques payable to the “Kamloops Jazz Society.” Include the following information if you are mailing in your membership:  Name, Street Address and Postal Code, Phone Number and Email address (important if you have one!).

MANDATE and PHILOSOPHY

THE MISSION

KJS is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to bring Jazz to the High Country, through performance, advocacy and education. KJS goal is to enhance the community's awareness, appreciation and understanding of these unique musical forms and to keep the majority of its performances and workshops at a low cost to the public.

The Society will promote and present Jazz to the public in a myriad of ways, including:

a) concerts,
b) hands-on workshops, clinics, master classes
c) commissions for new works,
d) education / outreach initiatives/artist assistance programs
e) festivals

THE PROGRAMS

The KJS year-round programs will be designed to showcase the rich diversity of styles and cultural traditions existing in Jazz music and to attract audiences of a variety of ages, income levels, and cultural backgrounds. The KJS will strive to find innovative methods of presenting these musical treasures to our community. The KJS will also actively support and promote local musicians by including them in concert schedules, planning sessions, web site information and newsletter materials.

The organization's programs will be divided into three categories:

Community Programming, comprising of collaborative projects at local venues.

Education and Outreach Programs
including:
District Jazz Program, "Get Jazzed" In-School Jazz Education Program, Jazz Master Classes open to anyone interested in our community
.

Festival Development
- A Kamloops Jazz Festival.
